I Need a Contest Prep Coach
A contest prep coach can manage much of the process between deciding to compete and stepping onstage. But coaching styles, experience and levels of support vary considerably, so finding the right coach matters.
What should a contest prep coach actually do?
At minimum, you should understand exactly what you're receiving.
Depending on the coach, contest prep may include individualized training, nutrition targets or meal planning, cardio programming, regular physique assessments, weekly check-ins and adjustments as your body changes.
Many coaches also provide Peak Week Support, helping manage the final stage of prep rather than leaving you to make last-minute decisions yourself.
Some offer posing and competition-day guidance as well. Others expect you to work with separate Posing Coaches and show-day providers.
Online or in person?
You don't necessarily need a coach who lives near you.
Many experienced bodybuilding coaches work primarily online. Progress photos, measurements, training data and regular video or written check-ins allow competitors to work with coaches in other states or even other countries.
If face-to-face contact matters to you, look for In Person providers in your area. If you're comfortable working remotely, Online Services gives you a much larger pool of coaches to choose from.
Ask questions before committing
Find out how often you'll check in, who actually reviews your check-ins, how quickly the coach normally responds and what happens when your progress stalls.
Ask about their experience with your division and federation, particularly if you're a first-time competitor.
You should also know whether posing, peak week and show-day support are included or cost extra.

Then browse Contest Prep Coaches and compare providers based on the support you actually need—not simply who has the biggest social-media following.
